This is without a doubt the best leveling guide available! I've used it myself and highly recommend it. It features an in-game addon to help you along on each quest. It also gives you the order of quests to do, the location of which quest to do next, and automatically progresses as you complete the quest. It even shows you on the in-game map where to go and what to do. It is a totally in-game guide. Gone are the days of switching windows to read a leveling guide!

Click Here To Visit Zygor's Site

Here is a screenshot from my personal use of Zygor's Guide and a link to the toon's WoW Armory page. (I started using this guide when this toon was Level 24 and flew to Level 70. Also mage leveling can be tricky at times because you either move through your talent tree effectively or you end up with things you don’t need.

Mage leveling can either go well for you, or not so well for you. I personally use a mage leveling guide, you can see my own experience with it here.

For this report I wanted to focus on mage leveling 4.0 patch and Cataclysm

With the addition of Cataclysm came some awesome buffs. It propelled the mage leveling capability. But with every great buff comes a great Nerf, and yes, it effected the mage leveling capability as well.

One thing that will affect your mage leveling capability is the way you set up your talent builds. When you do you are locked into your choice of specialization. There’s no more of this fire playing with frost nonsense. Until you spend 31 talent points (at level 69) you will be fire or frost or arcane. After you have spent those 31 points you are free to branch out into other areas. Note that you don’t actually have to buy the top tier talent to branch out, you just need to spend the 31 points.

Obviously this means that 31/10/0 or 31/5/5 is about as far as you’re going to get into any hybrid builds, assuming that you have any interest in hybrid builds.

Mastery is a trainable skill that you have access to upon achieving level 80. Gear will come withMastery Rating, which will increase the Mastery effect much like Crit Rating does now. Whether stacking lots of Mastery is really worthwhile, compared to crit or anything else, remains to be seen and we won’t say much about it on this page.

You no longer learn several levels of spell. I am consuming tons of Food in the higher levels – Keep well stocked. Regular foods are great if you need to recover a lot of HP. Beverages keep your mana up. Your Create Water & Create Food are free, use them. Yes, we'll eventually get all the way to Level 80, just not today. No, this isn't a speed leveling guide. However, I will provide some tips on how to make leveling less of a grind.

Just to make sure we're all on the same page here's some guidelines for using this guide.

So you want to be a Hunter is for the new player and/or a new Hunter.

This guide is not a "How-to get to 80 in less than 3 days" leveling guide. It's more of a "What to expect as you level" guide.

Except where highlighted, this guide does not take into account Recruit a Friend or heirloom bonuses.

Since most players tend to level by themselves, all talent build suggestions will focus on a solo leveling/grinding build.

This guide focuses on the leveling the PvE Hunter. We will discuss PvP and raiding in other guides.

Before we discuss how to level our Hunter, it might be a good idea to review the role a Hunter plays and the talent trees that help us accomplish it.

The Hunter's role

Hunters are a focused DPS class. Our job is to consistently shell out as much DPS as possible while the tank (our pet when we're by ourselves) distracts, harasses and keeps the mob focused on them. We have a wide range of attacks and abilities that help us accomplish this task.

We accomplish our role of providing consistent DPS by using one of the three talent trees:

Beast Mastery (BM) - A BM Hunter has an almost symbiotic relationship with their pet. A Ferocity pet can provide as much as 25% or more of the BM Hunter's total DPS. Because a BM Hunter relies on their pet for a good portion of their DPS, pet management and increasing their Attack Power are critical in achieving their full potential.

Marksmanship (MM) - The MM Hunter is less focused on the damage that their pet can provide than their BM counterparts. Unlike the BM Hunter, the Marksman Hunter focuses on their individual performance. Using a combination of Agility, Attack Power, precision and mana efficiency to provide superior DPS, MM Hunters typically view their pet's attacks and abilities as added bonus.

Survival (SV) - The SV Hunter has relationship with their pets that is similar to the MM Hunter. However, there are some differences with how each are played. For example, where the MM Hunter is almost purely focused on individual performance, the SV Hunter divides their attention between providing mana replenishment to the party, while being able to consistently string together one explosive critical strike after another. SV Hunters accomplish this amazing feat by focusing on increasing their Agility and Critical Strike Rating.

You might be wondering what is all this talk about Agility, Attack Power, Critical Strike Rating, etc... Well let's take a look at these important Hunter stats and what they mean to the Hunter.

Hunter Stats

Deciding what stat to stack is probably the most confusing area in the game today. You'll often hear that you don't need to worry about Hunter stats until you reach endgame and start raiding. Though this is technically correct, knowing which quest reward will be an increase for you and why can keep you from being a Shammy Hunter.

What's a Shammy Hunter? This is a Hunter that mistakenly stacks Shaman related gear instead of Hunter gear. (No, not everything is really Hunter Loot. Really! It's not.) How do you keep from becoming a Shammy Hunter? It really is a lot easier than it seems. All you need to know is what stat is really important to Hunters. To make it easier we'll review Hunter stats below.

Hit Rating – Without going into too much detail. Hit Rating is your chance to miss the target. This is the best and easiest way to increase your DPS. And if that is still confusing, then just remember that the most important thing is to reach the hit cap, the Hit Rating required to guarantee no misses. At level 80 the hit cap is 263 or 8% (230 or 7% if you're a Draenei).

Agility – Agility is the Marksman and Survival Hunter's main stat to stack after Hit Rating as they level and play. This is because each point in Agility adds 1 Attack Power and approximately 40 Agility adds 1% Critical Strike Rating.

Attack Power – Attack Power not only determines the Hunter's DPS, but also the Hunter's pet. This is why Beast Mastery Hunters will stack Attack Power over Agility. Don't think BM Hunters don't benefit from Agility, they do. It's just that Attack Power will give a better overall benefit.

Critical Strike – Critical Strike or "Crit" is when your attack is awarded a 100% bonus. Yes, I do mean an attack that does double the damage. This is why Marksman and Survival Hunters value Agility as a base stat so much. It can mean the difference of an Auto Shot from Giant's Bane maxing at 684 to being a 1386 crit. If that doesn't get your attention, not sure what will.

Armor Penetration – This is becoming more important than it was previously. Put simply, Armor Penetration reduces your targets armor. The major downside to this stat is how it stacks. Armor Penetration is taken into count after debuffs like Sunder Armor or Acid Spit from a worm.

Intellect – This isn't as important unless you decided to put talent points into Careful Aim. Then it is another avenue to increase your DPS by converting each point of Intellect into an equal point of Attack Power. Then this stat can add up to huge gains. But remember, it still follows building your base Attack Power or Agility.

Haste – Haste affects how quickly you are able to fire off shots. However, you will still only want to stack enough Haste to get your Steady Shot to match the Global Cooldown. This is when your Haste Rating is around 523. If you're Beast Mastery you probably don't need to worry about this, and if not then you can work on getting your Haste to the soft cap of 523 and then go back to focusing on increasing your Agility or Attack Power.

Now that we have a better understanding of what a Hunter needs to stack, we can review the first 9 levels.

Levels 1-9

There really isn't anything too exciting to talk about for the first 9 levels. The main things to learn from these levels are finding your Hunter Trainer, tracking, and maintaining your distance from your targets.

Also by level 8 you have already started learning the basics of creating and using a shot rotation. You get exposed to this concept at level 4 with the introduction of Serpent Sting. Then at level 6 you add Arcane Shot and Hunter's Mark. Then finally at level 8 you add Concussive Shot.

By level 8 you will have mastered the following attack order:

Apply Hunter's Mark

Concussive Shot

Serpent Sting

Arcane Shot

If this doesn't finish the mob before they reach you, they'll be weakened enough that Raptor Strike typically finishes them off.

Key Quests

When you reach level 2 you'll want to find your Hunter Trainer and begin learning your new attacks and spells. I've outlined each race's quest below.

Horde

Etched Note (Tauren)

Etched Tablet (Troll)

Etched Parchment (Orc)

Hunter Training (Blood Elf)

Alliance

Hunter Training (Draenei)

Etched Sigil (Night Elf)

Etched Rune (Dwarf)

There you have it. We've given an overview of what it means to be a Beast Mastery, Marksmanship, or Survival Hunter. Reviewed the basics of what stats to stack as you play your Hunter. And we touched on what happens in the first nine levels.reez-zwanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10210292011452112912noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-873802065921396443.post-72113493939551864722011-07-04T07:28:00.000-07:002011-07-04T07:31:43.993-07:00Horde Guide – Reasons To Give Cooking A Try!
If you are a fan of the World of Warcraft, then you would probably know that one of the most underestimated skills in the game is the cooking skill.

If you look at a Horde guide, the cooking skill isn’t necessary per se. But it can be very useful. If you have done a secondary profession like fishing, cooking can bring in a relatively decent amount of gold with very little effort. Cooking is also a fun diversion when you want to get away from the usual activities of the game.

For World of Warcraft players the cooking skill was largely ignored. However when the Burning Crusade expansion came along, one of the aspects the game enhanced was the secondary profession – cooking was among them. Now, there are ways to capitalize on your cooking skill. They are easy and fun to do, if you give them a try.

The Basics

Starting out your cooking skill is easy enough. All you need to start a fire is some wood, tinder and flint. As most players would know these go hand in hand with your spell book where the Basic Campfire spell can be cast by anyone. Remember that your basic campfire lasts only for a short period of time, so make sure that you are ready to cook as soon as the spell is cast.

The cookbook is also found in the spell book where various recipes can be found. Every recipe requires different set of ingredients, so make sure that these ingredients for your chosen recipe are ready too. As you successfully complete recipes, you will improve your cooking skill. You will be able to purchase ingredients from a Cooking Trainer. As you complete your quests you will find yourself encountering cooking items on a regular basis.

Leveling Your Cooking

Finding the ingredients for advanced cooking skill can be tricky. Start in Ironforge and make 60 spiced breads. This will boost your cooking skill to 40. Next, consult your Horde guide and make your way to Auberdine, where you can find some Moonkin and kill enough to get you 20 eggs.

To boost up your cooking skill to 225, go to Ashenvale to find crawler mobs. These will give you clam meat. Take them back to Ironforge and cook whatever eggs you have left. Go to a cooking trainer to find out what recipes you can for the clam meat. Finally buy the Expert Cookbook to reach 225.

Making Money

A good fishing skill will help you get the most out of your cooking and help you earn gold. But even without a fishing skill, there is money to be had. Example, Mok’Nathal Shortribs can easily fetch you 1 gold per set. The same is true for Warp Burgers. There are also seasonal recipes that you can take advantage of. During the Christmas season, Egg Nog can also fetch up to 1 gold. This is due to the quests WoW requires during this season.

You can make money faster when you grind for your ingredients rather than buying them from the store which cuts down your profit margin. Even without a Horde guide, we all know that doing your daily cooking quest is also one of the fastest ways to get ingredients and it is also a great way of getting powerful new recipes.
reez-zwanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10210292011452112912noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-873802065921396443.post-55047014478659226592009-04-28T06:27:00.000-07:002009-04-28T07:38:09.575-07:00Earning WoW Gold. There are almost an infinite number of ways to squeeze out a little more money out of any sale, but these sales almost always involve interaction with others. It is during these times when you can shave at least 10%-25% off any purchase.

For example, tonight I have the Design: Thundering Skyfire Diamond pattern up for sale. I’m selling it fairly cheaper than the average/median price of near 600g. But this server is an RP server and is fairly cheap, especially on Horde side, where my main lives. Someone mailed me in a polite way - which automatically means they are open to a negotiation attempt to me - asking if I might sell it to them… CoD it to be precise, for 400g. It’s exactly what I would do, especially if I actually wanted to use it and not resell it. So, being that I’ve had this particular design up for a few days at a little less than average, and no takers, and I bought it for less anyway, I mailed him back this message: If you can do it for 450, it’s yours. Let me know. I haven’t yet heard back (WoW is open on another tab) but I’m pretty confident, since I didn’t ask for too much more, he’ll go for it.

Always try and squeeze a little more from a deal. If you’re actually chatting with someone and they have an item for 100g up for sale, ask if they wouldn’t mind (yes, be polite) selling it to you for 85g. That’s especially if the item normally goes for more than the 100g he’s asking. If it goes for about 85 usually and this guy is just trying to squeeze out more himself, ask for even less, like 75. If he says no, he’s only being greedy and just pass it up. Of course, I would never buy an item to resell for 75g that usually goes for just 85g. That’s too little profit margin on a mid-priced item. I’d rather just pass it by.

Essentially, here are some guidelines for dealing with others:
Be polite. Someone who is polite has more credibility.
Don’t be a pushover and be firm. Be polite but also don’t be afraid to say “no thanks” or “I can’t do it for less than xy amount”. Know your limits and be confident.
Always ask for a better deal, even if you’re already getting one. This is unless you are sure that it’s a great deal and in that case you just want to get it done with fast so the item is in your hands. As I mentioned in a previous post, in this case, don’t dilly dally with chatter; they may change their mind. Don’t act like you’re excited but do seem a little grateful. A thank you is appropriate but not much else before it is in your hands.
Don’t trade for an item in person and immediately run to the AH to put it back up. That’s just bad etiquette, even if you were going to put it up anyway. Wait a bit or until they’re logged off, or transfer it to another character and have him/her do it.
Don’t engage in lame chitchat in the trade channel. If you have a lot for sale, you will already be making a name for yourself, and if you charge insane prices, not a very good one. But at that point, I guess it doesn’t matter. I see the insane priced people engage in these back-and-forths quite often… they just don’t seem to care. Me, wanting to maintain some honor (yes, I know that may not get me the most money), tend to just not get involved. I think of it as a game of “let’s see how much money I can make while maintaining respect and honor”. It’s a different sort of game, but one I’m content with and still have lots of money.
Don’t respond emotionally to accusations of your being a farmer, as if you are putting a lot up for sale, will inevitably happen. Even if you post your stuff for “average” or “below average” prices, they will be out of reach for most people and they’ll almost always have something to say, especially if you advertise your wares in the trade channel.
When you advertise, don’t spam. Once every time you are logged on is enough. I usually say “[item] now for sale in the AH. Good price.” Sometimes that gets challenged. If is below average, I usually state it calmly in trade and that’s all.reez-zwanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10210292011452112912noreply@blogger.com6tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-873802065921396443.post-69056503960498843472009-01-05T21:11:00.000-08:002009-01-05T21:13:24.784-08:00[Druid] Balance - Kill without being BruisedThere’s these annoying people who gank you, and just when you’re getting back at them they hide behind Bruisers, just as an example: at K3 in Storm Peaks.

As a balance druid, use the following trick: you walk up to them in Druid form.
You cast your Force of Nature ríght next to them, it will spawn the Treants (but dó note they will nót attack anyone, even when they’re flagged)
Now you back off over 36 yards away from them, hold ready to activate Starfall.
Do so, immediately cast Flightform (or Epic, even better) and fly over them, Starfall causing high damage,
ánd causing the Treans to build hate towards your target, and since they’re spawned right next to your target they will most likely cause a good burst of damage before Bruisers are even able to react.

TLDR:
- spawn Treants
- activate Starfall
- fly over.

Sidenotes:
- Starfall and Force of Nature talents needed
- Brambles talent is a +
- use before 3.0.8, it’s changing Starfall.reez-zwanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10210292011452112912noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-873802065921396443.post-80099290604679516682008-01-05T00:11:00.000-08:002008-01-05T00:28:09.061-08:00Lock Picking GuideLock picking is best scene as a fun tradeskill like ability that only rogues get to partake in. It’s impossible to level this very high without leveling your character but it is a fun little skill to play with as you level through the game.

How useful is it?

Lock picking has limited use but sure is handy. Obviously enough it allows you to pick any chest or lockbox in the game, however slightly lesser known it allows you to open most doors that require keys. These doors include Searing Gorge, Scarlet Monastery, Blackrock Depths, Scholomance, etc. As you go through the game you’ll have to acquire keys to get through each of these doors, but with a high lock pickings kill you’ll be able to just pick your way through and toss the keys.

Can’t Blacksmith’s lockpick?
Blacksmiths can pick locks but only with keys they have to craft. The big problem is that the keys used in lock picking take resources such as Truesilver that are in a very limited quantity. Not to mention a blacksmith’s keys can’t open very high lockboxes, Mithral, Thorium and lockboxes of the like are left exclusively for your Rogue.

Pickpocketing

As you may know by now if you pickpocket humanoids you may receive a lockbox. These lockboxes aren’t the same as ones that drop randomly that contain green items or bags. These lockboxes are specifically for the use of leveling your lock picking skill. You’ll be able to pick pocket your way through humanoids while gaining lockboxes as you progress through the game, however only a few levels of humanoids have the boxes you’ll be needing.

You see lockboxes dropped off humanoids come in tiers. Each lockbox has a designated lock picking skill requirement that is necessary to open it. For example purposes lets say you need to get from 175 lockpicking skill to 185, then you’ll need to find a certain kind of lockbox, and for this range it will be Sturdy Lockbox. The only mobs that drop study boxes are level 40-47 humanoids in various places, mainly being Ogres. You would need to pickpocket these monsters over and over to gain the Study lockboxes you need to get the points you desire.

Money as a Lock Picker

Sadly it is not customary to receive money to open chests as not a lot of Rogue’s charge for their lock picking ability. Most people want to level their lock picking so they go to a major city and offer to open picks for free. In the game’s infancy that throws the supply and demand of lock picking services way out of wack and those Rogues looking to make profit for their services are poorly rewarded. So starting a lock picking service may not make you money if you are picking for other people, but it has other benefits. Remember, there may be 300 skill chests that drop in content not yet added to the game, at that point we may see some actual payout as Rogues no longer need to level their abilities, they will be able to charge for their expertease.

Tiers of Lockpicking

Now you can level with pick pocketing or you can be patient and level efficiently through other means. Though I’m only familiar with the Alliance Rogue, I won’t be able to tell the Horde players their initial skill-up device, but if you look on the boards you shouldn’t have too much trouble. It is also worth mentioning that Horde players can use the devices mentioned below, however it may be more convenient to find closer ones that are Horde related.

The “other means” I was referring to comes in the form of unclickable chests and doors that require keys. Anything that requires a key will basically allow you to level your lock picking on it, so doors are fair game. The list located on this guide will show you what you’ll need to pick to get to 300 lock picking.

1-85
On the Alliance side you will be given a quest to venture to Alter’s Mill and practice your lock picking to obtain your Certificate of Thievery (or something like that). You’ll want to pick this lock until you reach 85 skill.

86-175
When you reach level 20 on the Alliance side, you’ll be given a quest to obtain your poisons. Within the top of the tower there is a chest that you needed to open to obtain the item for the quest. This chest will allow you to level comfortably up to 175 (though it may take some patience from 160-175). Since there is a level 26 elite mob up top, you should definitely wait till you’re high enough level to take him out safely. You’ll now be able to open various Steel Lockboxes.

175-185
This is the painful pick pocketing part that you will have to endure. Currently there is no other means of leveling this stretch on the Alliance side, so you’ll have to get 10 sturdy lockboxes from 40-47 Ogres in Tanaris. Since the drop rate is really random, just be prepared to sit there for a while as you collect your 10 lockboxes.

185-250
I particularly enjoyed this stretch because it takes you into Scarlet Monastery to pick the doors. The doors outside the instance are on a timer and you can only pick them once every few minutes to get a skill up, however the doors on the inside (near Herod and leading to the cathedral) are always available. The only trick to picking the locks inside the instance is that you’ll need to reset the instance by joining a new group after you every pick. I didn’t bother with Herod’s doors I just grinded on the cathedral doors while getting the chest on the right hand side and killing the High Inquisitioner. You can farm so many greens so fast, you’ll be an enchanters best friend. Preferably you’ll want to be level 50+ to pick these locks because you’ll need a complete lack of agro range to pick safely without getting into a fight. So just join new groups, be it allegiance or non-allegiance to get inside the instance to reset it (have your friends invite you) and grind the door to the cathedral then exit and pick the locks outside the instance in hopes that the timer has reset. It’ll take a few hours and remember to go in with a barren inventory, you’ll need the space with all the greens you’ll be looting off the chests and High Inquisitioner. After this stretch you’ll be able to unlock Mithral boxes.

250-280
There are a handful of ways to do this stretch but none are as quick and painless as the previous methods. One thing to remember is that you can always pick the Searing Gorge gates for 2 points quickly. I think they may be on a timer so you may have to occupy yourself in Searing Gorge after every pick. A common practice is opening locks in a major city to get a skill up. While I don’t necessarily enjoy the means because it is time-intensive and hard to sometimes its hard to find someone to give you the box to get the skill up, it does get some points over time. The way I leveled through this stretch was I getting my Guild to send their boxes over to me for a week, it didn’t take long before I had my 280 and I was good to go. When you hit 280 you should be able to open Thorium boxes as well as any boxes currently in the game.

280-300
Talk about easy, easy, easy. Just go into Blackrock Depths, hit the gate on the left, the door past it and the next door for a quick 3 points. Leave the instance, regroup and reset it, and re-enter to get 3 more points. These 20 points should take 10-15 minutes tops considering you have friends to reset the instance and you’re at lvl 60 to get to 300 skill. When you hit 300 you can now navigate Scholomance without a key.

Conclusion
Though lock picking is limited use, it’s a fun thing to level especially when you’ve hit the higher levels and you need a break from questing. I think the most valuable aspect is that it showed me that I could use my rogue to supply my enchanter with items found in Scarlet Monastery. Hello Vision Dust!

I’d like to give a quick thanks to Aethix for all the help as we leveled our lockpicking together on Whisperwind. What you will do with Fear is have the enemy out of direct physical contact with you while you keep dots applied and blast their panicked butts!

As with all of my guides, this is simply a compilation of my experiences and what I have fun with. I’m not the best textbook Warlock, but my friends enjoy my play style. See if there is anything here you can use to make playing a Warlock more fun for you.

Fear is one of the harder spell effects to master and not get you or your whole team killed in the process. In the early levels you will be discouraged from using it in teams, but you should start practicing with all of your effects to get to know their potential. For a long time your teams will tell you not to use it, but when it is needed, they will expect you to be an expert in its use. Personally, I consider using Fear powers an advanced skill and trying to use the Fear spell you get at level 8 is simply a “save your ass” endeavor for quite a few levels. To effectively use Fear it really helps to have the set of spells for it, and I will direct my advice to the post level 42 uses of the effect.

Spells that have Fear effects:

Fear
Available at level 8. This is the straight up single target Fear that you will use for most kiting.

Howl of Terror(HoT)
Available at level 40 1.5 sec cast 40 sec cooldown Howl, causing 5 enemies within 10 yards to flee in terror for 6 sec. Damage caused may interrupt the effect.

Death Coil
Available at level 42.
30 yd range
Instant cast 2 min cooldown
Causes the enemy target to run in horror for 3 sec and causes XXX Shadow damage. The caster gains 100% of the damage caused in health.

The Do Not’s about Fear:

Do not fear targets that Hunters have Pets on. The Pets will draw aggro, even if the feared enemy does not on their own.

Do not fear your main Tank’s target. He would rather that he dies before having to chase a feared target. You should assume that the healer can do their job. (Granted, if the healer is still alive in the fight.)

Do not fear any direct melee’s target unless requested to do so for that matter. These do not’s are subject to change with advanced skill, and regular running mates. How you will use your skills with seasoned veterans and friends will differ from some guidelines for Pick up Group behavior.

Know your enemy
Some mobs do, and some mobs don’t call for reinforcements. You can take on some pretty nasty Elites if they like to attack you solo. One of my first true testing of Fear Kiting was in the 58-60 range in Winterspring. The Frostmaul Giants are solo attackers for the most part. They are great training. This is an advanced skill, so I do recommend that you start serious training for this after you get into the 50’s. You can start using the Elite giants in Aszura in the mid to late 50’s for Fear Kiting training.

Hints about who does and doesn’t call for reinforcements will be in your general chat. If you decide to take on one type of enemy in standard Void Tanking style, and you see “Infected Timberwolf calls for help” during a standard battle, you know that if you fear that type of Wolf, then they will call in for reinforcements as soon as the fear wears off, and in some cases by just running around other Infected Timberwolves. Then, instead of just one wolf to deal with, here comes the whole pack. Humanoids almost ALWAYS call for reinforcements, so assume that’s the case for all general Humanoid encounters.

Many enemies cannot be feared at all. If it’s undead, find other means of crowd control if needed. They’re all immune. They’re dead……. why should they be afraid of you!? If you are not going to use a game Add-on or Mod to help you know who can and cannot be feared. Start making those mental notes now.

Know your surroundings
Where to use fear can sometimes be as important as when. Find areas where the mobs have no other enemies to pull in. Or find locations that the game graphics work to your advantage.

A prime example:
I was working over an instance with some buds and it was working us pretty hard. I was leading Crowd Control and we were pulling 6-7 mob pulls. Just a little too many to tank and seduce. We were in a long hallway and near its end. I recommended that we simply pull the mobs way down the hall and I would fear one, seduce the other.

This plan worked better than expected. The walls had little cubby holes for pillars or statues or whatever….. The enemy I feared ran straight into a wall and got hung in the graphics. I sat there and very easily kept him dotted up while I maintained my seduction control duties. When the fear dropped, I used Death Coil, reapplied the main Fear and he ran right back into his corner and got stuck.

Tight passageways and busy graphics tend to get them stuck when feared as often as it does when the mobs use it on you. Look for advantageous locales to use this feature. Did you just clear a big ole room just behind you? Drag your fear assignment with you into that room and let him run around all by himself. Make sure the room and surrounding doorways to it do not have adds to pull in. Some instance runs do not require complete clearing of all enemies in it.

Why Fear at all?
You are a cloth wearing class. Bottom line is to keep enemies out of direct melee with you or not attacking you at all while you burn them down. In other cases it will be to reduce the overall DPS coming into the team, or Team’s Tank while a primary target is taken down. This is our means of crowd control by taking one enemy that is supplying DPS against us out of the fight.

Game Add-ons and Mods I’m only going to touch on this briefly. Mods are a touchy subject with some, and those who do use them are pretty loyal to them. I use and prefer Necrosis for my Warlock specific needs. For this discussion, I like it because I get a screen notification and sound bite if desired to notify me that my target cannot be feared. I recommend this or any other Mod that will give you a notification before you attempt to use this effect, but it’s by no means a requirement.

First lesson: The Mini Kite Death Coil
available at level 42 is a very effective spell for setting up other effects and getting a little health back from doing it. The 3 second fear is great because the enemies will tend to not go far enough to draw additional aggro. You can also get an enemy out of direct combat with you, the healer or any other squishy in the group long enough for the Tank to regain aggro or for DPS to do it’s job and take that enemy out of the fight.

I use the Mini Kite for various reasons. For full blown Fear Kiting this will get an enemy off of you long enough to apply the regular Fear spell. Or in some cases I’ll use it to just bounce the enemy off long enough for one good Shadow Bolt to finish them off. Basically you should think about all of the spells that you have that have timers on them that are under 3 seconds that you could use on the enemy. The Mini Kite can facilitate any and all of them.

Complimenting curse: Curse of Shadow. Simply because you will gain the most health and generate the most damage from casting the spell with this debuff applied.

Still important: Know your surroundings, know your enemy. If the mobs are tightly packed or you are near a village of enemies, you could still draw additional aggro with even the slightest fear. Look for wide open spaces or in an instance environment, try to have the Tank pull the mobs away from tightly packed areas. You can also use your Voidwalker to “fish” for enemies and draw them into more workable areas that are empty and may have been previously cleared by your team.

Get used to how far the enemy can run in 3 seconds. In the future, this will help you to determine when this spell is appropriate for the instance situations you will encounter. I use this a lot in the instances now that I know how much breathing room to have available while we work the mob over.

Single Target Fear Kiting
This is where you will take a single target, keep them running around scared for their life, all the while you are keeping DoTs and Blasts taking them down to a pile of ash.

The lead in: You have a Tank/distraction readily at your disposal. I prefer to use the Void for this. As this is written from the perspective of the Destruction Spec Warlock, I do not have a Felguard for this activity. I pick mobs that I know he can handle a little abuse from. I set him on the selected enemy, sometimes reeling him back in to get the enemy into a better position for me, Apply DoTs, Fear the enemy and IMMEDIATELY call the Void back in. Try to keep in Blasting Range and keep those DoT’s working. Elites have a tendency to dispel things more often, so make sure you keep the damage flowing at all times. The ability to Fear targets gets weaker the more you use it on that target.

The reason you pull the pet back quickly is that even if the selected enemy cannot draw aggro to you, the chasing pet will pick up everything it runs by like a magnet. Then bring it all back to you in the end.

The return: If the Fear wears off before you are done killing the enemy, be ready for either a Mini Kite to help you apply the next Fear, or just cowboy up and take a shot from the enemy as you get it re-applied. The range on it is pretty short, and almost every mob I use this on has enough time to hit me at least once. But once you have em feared again you can bandage or Health Funnel from them. Keep your Death Coil as a backup in case things start getting out of control. With the timer you have to deal with on Death Coil, you will only get one opportunity to use it in this procedure.

You will find that the Void will no longer have their attention. Even if it tries to Taunt again, the use of Fear increases your threat level considerably, and you will be doing constant damage while the enemy is feared in most cases, additionally building your threat level. For this reason, I also recommend that you keep your pet on Passive. Telling them when to attack, and for them to stay until they are needed. When the mob does start returning, I will sick the Voidwalker back on them to try to regain their attention, but mostly just to add a little more DPS to the mix now. Be ready to call him back quickly once you have the Fear re-applied. He also makes a decent shield if you need to sac him because you are running the raged edge and about to die.

The effect will diminish in length every time you use it on that particular enemy, and I’d say that you need to take down whatever you are fighting in 3 fear applications, or you may find that you aren’t quite so scary any more. I’ve applied more and got it to stick, just don’t expect to get away with it forever against an even leveled mob.

You may also experience an early return if you do too much damage at once. The whole idea is to burn then down quick while they run around, and before the Fear effect gets resisted. But I’ve found that a healthy crit will break the Fear effect. So be ready to re-apply it if the enemy shrugs it off prematurely, or you break it with a good wallop.

Keeping up the DPS: You can’t Fear them indefinitely. The whole point of this is to keep them running around while you are taking away their life points. The mobs will run out of range so getting your DoTs applied early and often will keep the damage ticking while you can’t Shadow Bolt, Soul Fire or whatever because of range issues. Finding good areas where the mobs can get cornered is a good idea. But that will not always be available. You may have to chase them a little to keep yourself in range for standard attack routine damage. Just be mindful you don’t chase them close enough to aggro a second enemy with your personal aggro radius.

I like to start out with Curse of Agony after the Fear. It’s an instant cast and you can get it applied very quickly before they get out of range. Then just try to stay close enough to get your other DoTs like Corruption and Immolate applied. Shadow Burn is also another good instant cast to apply as they make their first run, but a crit could give you an instant return. But the most important thing to do is to keep those DoTs applied. That’s standard Warlock 101 for almost any encounter with the exception of a few bosses that you should not apply DoTs to.

Location: You need to maintain control of a target in an instance, possibly with the Succubus, but she squishes pretty easy. Have you cleared the previous room? Have you cleared most of the instance and there are no more adds to pull with a Fear? This is where “Know your surroundings” comes in to play again. If there are no more adds that can be pulled by a Fear gone wrong, go nutz. Granted, have some courtesy for your fellow teammates that are Melee oriented, but if you see things starting to go sour in the fight, take one or more of the enemies out of it. All of the classes have some thought processes that need to be maintained for effectiveness, but the Warlock class is definitely not the “Tank and Spank” class. Warlocks are Damage/Control/Finesse. Add in a little cloth armor for the squish factor and there you go.

Complimenting curses: This can be rotated during the process. Curse of Agony for an instant cast after the Fear is applied, but as the enemy starts coming back, Curse of Weakness is good to apply until you can get Fear applied again. You are going to take a shot or two from the current target. CoW will reduce that damage. Then cast CoA again after they run away in fear. This all depends on your mana reserves in the fight as well. Don’t keep switching curses if you are running low, keeping up the DPS should take precedence.

AoE Fear Kiting
Fear is our AoE crowd control feature. At some point you do get to open Pandora’s Box, and when that happens you will see the fun that can be had with this spell effect.

There are certain fights where you will be asked to use your AoE Fear to scatter the mobs for a boss fight with adds. A little coordination with your other Warlocks will be very helpful. Using the AoE fear effect is not officially kiting unless you are working with a group of Warlocks. So you will most likely be using this effect in larger raids, or as a panic button in the open zones when you need to cut and run.

The first important thing to address about Howl of Terror(HoT) is that it has a cooldown timer of 2 minutes. By now you should be familiar with the “Soulstone Rotation” during the bigger runs. You should also establish a HoT rotation. If you all go in at once and burn your AoE fear, then it’s a full 2 minutes before anyone can use it. I find that whatever SS rotation you are on, will work just fine for the HoT rotation. This is the plan I’ve used in the past successfully on Buru the Gorger in Ruins of Ahn'Qiraj(AQ20):

The Battle gets to the point where the boss spawns a bunch of adds(bugs in this case).

The team is aware of the Fear crowd control that will be used.

The Tank is in and has primary aggro on the boss, but he can’t take all the incoming from the bugs.

For the sake of discussion, there are three Warlocks on the raid. Warlock #1 goes in for the first HoT…… The mob scatters.

Warlock #2 and Warlock #3 are using individual Fear spells for anything missed. When they come back, many could be aggro’d to Warlock #1, so Warlock #2 needs to be looking out for him.

Warlock #1 notices his feared targets are returning, he heads towards the Tank with Warlock #2 in tow.

Warlock #2 uses their HoT. Hopefully before everything kills Warlock #1.

Warlock #1 and Warlock #3 are using individual Fears to keep things off the Tank, and themselves.

Warlock #3 is up next when the mobs return.

All the while this is happening, you are still trying to apply your DoTs on the primary, tanked target and get a few blasts in, but stay focused on your crowd control duties. That is most likely what is keeping the group alive. Just try to do what you can. After doing this a few times you will find more opportunities to add DPS to the fight.

I have found that with a minimum of 3 Warlocks, you can roll this HoT rotation over and over again. Warlock #1 will have their HoT recharged by the time that Warlock #3’s feared targets come back…….In theory. There are two problems with the plan. Timing and the inconsistency of the time an enemy is feared.

Timing: The timing takes practice. When should the first Warlock go in, and when to know the first mob is returning? Who is HoT’ing, and the best times to pull it off? All I can say is practice. I did already mention that this is an advanced skill. It won’t be easy at first but it does get better. I recommend healthy communication with your other Warlocks first, but don’t forget your team. They need to know how this is going to work as well. You are only one aspect of the fight, and they are covering your back. They might be able to help you with a rogue mob you just can’t keep off of you. K

NOW who Warlock #1, #2, #3, etc is. Without this, there is no timing.

Inconsistent Fear effects: Some of the mobs will dispel your fear before the others, sometimes there are more than 5 adds and others will be outside of the 10 yard radius. Murphy’s law dictates you won’t get them all. So be ready for it. This is why the other Warlocks are still using individual Fear on the stragglers. You have it as well, don’t be single minded and only think about the AoE effect and the HoT rotation. Keep Death Coil and Fear ready to help manage the aggro you will draw.

Important Note: Doing damage on the enemies effected by HoT can break the spell. Save your DoT damage for the primary Tank’s target if DoT is appropriate for that target. Refer to your Tank and/or team for targets appropriate for DoT spells if you are unfamiliar with the instance.

This should give you the basics for using Fear effects. With different teammates and Guilds there will probably be specific instructions on how they want you to use the effects. Be flexible and practice, practice, practice! Don’t wait till you start raiding to get comfortable with this set of effects. The Warlock class is highly solo-able so you should have plenty of opportunities to practice using Fear while questing. That way when it does backfire on you and you die, you learn how to use it properly when it’s a raid group you are working crowd control for. I can guarantee that his will get you killed. At least at first. But I have found myself in situations where I have just drawn too much aggro and I’m using my single target fear to maintain 4 to 5 even leveled targets at once to try to save my butt. Then standing in a pile of bodies when it’s over. You can only choose 2 professions, and these are permanent, so choose very carefully.

He is a little run down of how you should pick: Skinning & Leather Working-You can skin monster you kill, then use the skin you get and make armor to sell or wear. Mining & Blacksmiting- Mine minerals, then use them for armor, weapons and other items.(Mining good with engineering also) Alchemist & Herbalist- Get plants from exploring, then use them to make potions. Fishing & Cooking-Catch fish, then cook 'em and eat 'em!(Fishing goes with alchemy a little also) Other professions arn't really combos with another profession.

Also, there are 3 specific professions that can be learned and they will not take up one of the two permanent slots. They are: First Aid-Make Bandages and heal after battles. Cooking-Cook your fish and such to get more health from them. Fishing-Fish for free food!reez-zwanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10210292011452112912noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-873802065921396443.post-63109424229256195102007-12-11T22:05:00.000-08:002007-12-11T22:12:08.141-08:00silverleafhere some tips for you all...this tips is for tradeskills category..hope you all enjoy it....

Having trouble finding silverleaf for alchemy? Why add another powerleveling basics guide? Great question, I added it here because I feel that if you don't have the powerleveling basics down you will not powerlevel at the speed you really can achieve. Just like learning anything you must MASTER the fundamentals to really become a master. Just think of this as a beginning mastery course for World of Warcraft powerleveling!
1) Take as many quests as possible and at the same time, try not to do quests one at a time. When entering a new area, find all the quests from NPC's first, before you start killing things.
2) A complementary group of 2 or 3 (such as tank + healer) is sometimes far better than solo'ing. Especially when a quest calls for "kill X amount of something". Use groups when they suit you. Leave a group when it bogs you down.

3) Play a Multi-Zone game. When you hit level 10 or so, its time to run to the nearest "other" starting area and do the quests there. You will do them fast, and get exp for all the kills (as long as they are colored green to you) Doing a load of quests 3-5 levels beneath you really racks up EXP fast.
4) Green quests are your friends! These are quests that are 2-3 levels beneath you. When I get a bunch of yellow colored quests, sometimes I'll just 'level grind' 2-3 levels, then power through the quests solo. It basically comes to this: If you are getting killed more than once doing a single quest, you are wasting time- its better to grind a level and do it later.
5) Dont be afraid to dump quests It's so tempting....you just don't want to let go of that quest that's been in your books for several days. It requires you to run around the world - see this person, see that person...will take you 3 hours. Or that quest you forgot to do way back in Elwynn Forest, and now you're all the way in the Wetlands. DUMP IT. There are thousands of quests in this game. Wasting 4 hours just to 'finish' that green or gray quest is not worth it. Abandon that quest, and replace it with others.
6) Level Grinding still works! This is killing monsters that are GREEN to you. Why Green? Because you kill them fast and with very little down time. You can basically steamroll through dozens of con-green enemies in minutes! Spend an hour or two doing this (boring ya) and you'll see what a difference in EXP it makes! Small EXP gains over a long period time really add up.
7) Decide if you are going for power or wealth (or both) before you decide on your profession. Ask yourself, "will mastering this profession take too much extra time and hinder my primary goal?". Take professions that do not hinder you.
After playing World of Warcraft since beta, and logging in hundreds of hours over numerous characters ever since, I can tell you from my experience that the fastest way to level up and make cash is to take as many quests as possible, and follow some basic principles.reez-zwanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10210292011452112912noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-873802065921396443.post-88608399440622031312007-11-27T02:41:00.000-08:002007-11-27T03:01:43.763-08:00Profession Daily QuestsFacts on Daily Quests:
1.You must be level 70 to complete most daily quests.
2.A Day on WoW starts at 4am server time.
3.There are daily quests for instances, battlegrounds, cooking, and factions.
4.You may complete up to 10 daily quests per day per character.
5.Only 3 gathering profession quests can be completed per day.
6.Daily repeatable quests started in 2.1 and new ones have been added each patch.
7.To see the number of dailies you have completed check the upper-right hand corner of your quest log.
8.Quest chains activate faction based quests and require a flying mount.
9,Netherwing faction quests require an epic flying mount.

Cooking Quests
1.You must have cooking skill of at least 275.
2.Must be level 70 to complete quests.
3.Some quests require a flying mount to complete.
4.All quests are given by The Rokk, (61,15) Shattrath City

5.Rewards: Barrel of Fish or Crate of Meat (cooking reagents), 7g and 1 of the following recipes (Random BOP):
1.Skullfish Soup - gain 20 Spell Critical Strike Rating and Spirit for 30 min.
2.Spicy Hot Talbuk - gain 20 Hit Rating and Spirit for 30 min.
3.Kibler’s Bits - Increases the Strength and Spirit of your pet by 20. They're easy to deal with, they have great prices, and their support is excellent. They're my secret weapon for fast gold! I highly recommend them, okay let's continue…

Haven’t seen a good new start since before bc. Anyways I got a beauty for you’ll. Doesn't take a genius to figure it out.

SEED OF CORRUPTION

There's several good aoe spots in the outlands(you can't have mine lol):p It basically takes a team of 2. It could be done if you are an sl lock but just not worth the time. I've powerleveled and farmed with basically every class with this ONE warlock spell. Just have your buddy round up a bunch of mobs and hold them in place while u toss out 5-6 seeds out. I use shadowfury to set it off but if u got a mage that will do just as well. Pallies can easily round up and hold these mobs till you get the seeds off. Even my 66 shaman buddy can do it. Frost mages are real good to ice block then nova and blink out after rounding up the mobs. Warriors work fine too as long as you aren't pullng casters.

Just try it for yourself if you are a lock. First time i tested it i pulled all of andorhol around araj with my blueberry and blew up the whole place in seconds. It's pretty ridiculous. It's bound to get nerfed soon its just not right lol so have fun with it once you get it. I'll give you’ll the spots once I get exalted with my factions :preez-zwanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10210292011452112912noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-873802065921396443.post-81104704114869945842007-11-25T02:11:00.001-08:002007-11-25T02:46:51.750-08:00Tailoring 1-300 GuideThis guide will show you how to get your tailoring skill up from 0 to 300. The guide will only use recipe's available at a trainer until 275 and vendor available recipe's from 275 to 300.

This guide only uses recipes that require cloth and vendor bought material (thread, dye). The only exceptions are the vendor bought recipe's to get to 300 which require rugged leather. The leather needed is easily acquired through skinning or the auction house.

This guide does not tell you how to get all the different recipe's from quests, vendors or drops. What you do once you hit 300 is entirely up to you.

This guide is primarily aimed at those who want to switch profession at high level or have high level alts, friends or guild members.

Preparation

You are going to need a lot of linen and wool cloth and huge amounts of silk, mageweave and runecloth. Create an alt storage character to store these amounts of cloth and then farm (or have an alt farm) for the cloth needed. Use the in game mail system to send the cloth to the storage character. You may need more than one storage character. Don't forget to send some gold to the storage character, so she can send the cloth back. Once you have all the components collected, everything has to be send back to your main character. The mailbox only shows the first 50 items you have in the mail. It also puts the last item send to you on top. So to avoid complications send the components you need first last: i.e the linen cloth are needed first, so these are the last to be send back to your main, after the wool, silk, etc.

The recipe's used require vendor bought components such as threads and dye. These cost gold. To learn recipe's from a trainer also costs gold. The amount of gold needed is approximately 40 to 50 gold if you farm all of the cloth. If you want to buy everything you need from the auction house expect to spend upwards to 250 gold. This does not include gold for recipe's from vendors or the auction house.

Below is a table that shows the amount of cloth needed. The minimum amount column shows the minimum amount needed if you would get a skill point every time you make something. However at some point a recipe will be yellow or even green when you make something so you won't always get a skill point. The estimated amount column deals with this, so try to get the estimated amount of cloth. If you are buying all the cloth you need from the auction house, I suggest getting the minimum amount and only buy more when needed. The numbers in the estimated amount column are rounded up to full stacks of whatever the component stacks up to.

Component Minimum Amount Estimated Amount
Linen Cloth 140 (7 stacks) 160 (8 stacks)
Wool Cloth 165 (9 stacks) 200 (10 stacks)
Silk Cloth 700 (35 stacks) 760 (38 stacks)
Mageweave Cloth 450 (23 stacks) 520 (26 stacks)
Runecloth 750 (38 stacks) 900 (45 stacks)
Rugged Leather 90 (10 stacks) 120 (12 stacks)

Getting from 1 to 50

Getting from 1 to 50 seems easy enough. Making a bolt of linen cloth greys out at 50, so it looks like this is the easiest way to get to 50. However, since making a bolt of linen cloth becomes yellow at 25 and green at 37, you will most likely make much more bolts than needed to get from 50 and further.
Getting from 50 and further requires at least 70 bolts of linen cloth, so lets make those first and set those aside. If you haven't reached 50 yet, make a bolt of linen cloth and then a linen belt. The linen belt will give a skill point. Repeat this until 50.
Once you hit 50 talk to the appropriate trainer to become Journeyman Tailor. You have to be level 10 to become Journeyman Tailor.

This table shows the different recipes used to get from 0 to 50.
Skill Item From - To
1 Bolt of Linen Cloth 1 - 50 (50)
15 Linen Belt 45 - 50 (5) Getting from 50 to 125

First use the bolts of linen cloth set aside earlier to get to 75. Make linen bags to get from 50 to 70. Make the reinforced linen cape to get to 75.

There are two other recipe's that can be used to get from 50 to 70, the heavy linen gloves and the reinforced linen cape. These recipe's are cheaper in components than the linen bag, but since the bag sells for more silver at a vendor (2 silver for the bag versus 29 copper for the gloves and 67 copper for the cape) and you have to make a lot of bolts to get to 50 anyway, I decided to go for the linen bag so you can recoup a bit more of the money you lose wasting material.

At 75 you can train to make bolt of woolen cloth. Bolt of woolen cloth greys out at 105. To get from 105 to 125 you need at least 55 bolts of woolen cloth, so lets make those and see how far we get.

If you haven't reached 105, make 1 bolt of woolen cloth and then make a woolen cape until you do reach 105.

Now use the 55 bolts of woolen cloth made earlier and make gray woolen shirts until 110 and double-stitched woolen shoulders to get from 110 to 125.

Once you hit 125 talk to the appropriate trainer to become Expert Tailor. You have to be level 20 to become Expert Tailor.

This table shows the different recipes used to get from 50 to 125.
Skill Item From - To

45 Linen Bag 50 - 70 (20)
60 Reinforced Linen Cape 70 - 75 (5)
75 Bolt of Woolen Cloth 75 - 105 (25)
75 Woolen Cape 100 - 105 (5)
100 Gray Woolen Shirt 105 - 110 (5)
110 Double-stitched Woolen Shoulders 110 - 125 (15)

Getting from 125 to 200

At 125 you can make bolt of silk cloth, which greys out at 145. Since you're going to need at least 175 bolts of silk cloth for your skill up recipe's you will most likely reach 145 with that, so lets make those bolts of silk cloth. Make azure silk hoods to get from 145 to 160, silk headbands to get from 160 to 170 and formal white shirts to get from 170 to 175.

At 175 you can make bolt of mageweave which greys out at 185. Later on you're going to need at least 90 bolts of mageweave, so lets make those bolts. This should get you to 185 easily.

Now back to silk. Make Crimson Silk Vests to get from 185 to 200. Once you hit 200 talk to the appropriate trainer to become Artisan Tailor.

You have to be level 35 to become Artisan Tailor.

This table shows the different recipes used to get from 125 to 200.

Skill Item From - To
125 Bolt of Silk Cloth 125 -
145 (20) 145 Azure Silk Hood 145 -
160 (15) 160 Silk Headband 160 - 170 (10)
170 Formal White Shirt 170 - 175 (5)
175 Bolt of Mageweave 175 - 185 (10)
185 Crimson Silk Vest 185 - 200 (15)

Getting from 200 to 275

First make some more crimson silk vests to get from 200 to 205 and crimson silk pantaloons to get to 215.

Make black mageweave leggings or vests to get from 215 to 220, black mageweave gloves to get from 220 to 230 and black mageweave headbands or shoulders to get from 230 to 250.

At 250 you can make bolts of runecloth, which greys out at 260. Make bolts of runecloth until you reach 260 skill and use those to make runecloth belts.

The runecloth belt recipe becomes yellow at 270, so you should be able to reach 275 using this recipe.

This table shows the different recipes used to get from 200 to 275.
Skill Item From - To
185 Crimson Silk Vest 200 - 205 (5)
195 Crimson Silk Pantaloons 200 - 215 (5)
205 Black Mageweave Leggings or Black Mageweave Vest 215 - 220 (5)
215 Black Mageweave Gloves 220 - 230 (10)
230 Black Mageweave Headband or Black Mageweave Shoulders 230 - 250 (20)
250 Bolt of Runecloth 250 - 260 (10)
255 Runecloth Belt 260 - 275 (15)

Getting from 275 to 300
Although the rune cloth belt recipe greys out at 300 I wouldn't use this recipe to skill up to 300, because the amount of rune cloth needed would be huge and thus expensive.

Below is a table with recipe's available from different vendors. These are limited availability recipe's, so you need some luck getting them, but i think they are much more useful in getting your skill to 300.

Of course there are plenty of dropped recipe's that can get you to 300, but getting those require even more luck than with the vendor available recipe's or spending some money at the auction house.

Make runecloth bags to get to 280 and runecloth gloves to get to 300. Congratulations, you now have 300 skill in tailoring.

This table shows the different recipes that are available through vendors to get from 275 to 300.

Skill Item From - To
260 Runecloth Bag 275 - 280 (5)
275 Runecloth Gloves 280 - 300 (20)

This table shows who and where the different vendors are for the previously mentioned recipe's. If you are "rank 1", you are the best team in your battle group.

Rating- Your team's "score". More on this later. If you have a rating of 1, your team is the worst team on the server (and ever created).

Arena Points- The points you earn to buy things from the arena vendor. These are NOT accumulated the same way as honor: kills or wins don't matter. They are converted straight from your rating.

Mechanics :

The arena works very simply. Players fight against other players in 2v2, 3v3 or 5v5 brackets. The team who wins has its rating go up, while the team who loses has theirs go down. If a strong team defeats a weak team, their increase is small. However, if a weak team beats a strong team, their increase is tremendous (while the strong team loses a lot). Teams can consist of up to twice the amount of minimum players needed to participate (2v2 can have at max 4, 3v3 at max 6, 5v5 at max 10).

Points Earned:

Points are acquired at the end of the week based on your team rating (see above).

Things that do affect points earned:

Your rating (based on your team's wins and losses against whatever ranked opponents).

Things that don't affect points:
Number of Players on your team
Matches played (past 10).

One interesting note is that points are NOT summated from bracket to bracket (i.e., if you're in three active arena teams -one for each division- your points are only taken from the team that would earn the most points). Another good point about points is that they do NOT decay. You can leave for a week, a month or even a year and still have the same amount of points as you did when you left. However, you cannot stockpile points past 5k. This is to prevent players from stockpiling points at the end of one arena season so that they may buy alot of the new gear released at the start of the next season. And while we're on that:

Seasons:
Seasons are like baseball seasons, except instead of just bringing about new rounds of competition they also bring out new pvp rewards. These are blizzard's way of being able to reward newer prizes as the game progresses, always providing more and more incentive to go into the arena.

How to Play:
Besides learning EVERYTHING about your class (including other tactics that you wouldn't normally use since all of your cool downs under or at 10 minutes are available in arena combat) you need to learn how to actually play the arena. Unlike other PVP areas, time played does not equal points returned. Each team starts with a rating of 1500. Each victorious game brings your rating up, while each losing game brings your rating down. A good strategy is to play and win just enough games to get your rating to 2000 and stop. This is because at 2000, you have a very small chance of going up, but a very large one of going down. This usually takes most teams about 9-10 wins. Also, if you're having an off week and losing a lot, your team should stop playing after hitting 1000 as you don't want to go any lower. Either way, to get points you have to participate in at least 30% of the arena battles your team plays in(to prevent free loaders). Finally, 5v5 teams gain more points than 2v2 teams do (about 80% more actually). Since points are not summated, if you are playing on a decent 5v5 team you shouldn't even waste your time in 2v2 play. An additional note someone pointed out is that ratings are carried over week to week: in other words, if your team finishes one week with a 2000 rating, you start the next with a 2000 rating. So, you want to perform your very best in the minimum number of games you need to play (10) so as you don't lose you’re rating. If you do happen to sink under, remember to keep going for 2000. Either way, always try to stop playing when your rating is around 2000 as its very easy to go lower but hard to get any higher.

So as you can see, the arena requires more than just being good at your class: you also have to know how it works.

Finish each week with a 2000 rating, and you can generally have full arena gear within 3-4 months (about the time it takes to get full raiding gear anyway).

Hope this helps some people confused over itreez-zwanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10210292011452112912noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-873802065921396443.post-90921932366936582192007-11-20T22:46:00.000-08:002007-11-20T23:05:38.078-08:00Crafting Leatherworking 1-200k, first off, leatherworking is a resource hog. I spent a grip of gold power leveling this profession just to 200. We will start with an itemization based on the items I used to get to 200. As always, your mileage may vary and these are not my hard numbers used to get to 200. These numbers are what you should expect to consume during the leveling process.

Light leather: 255 (sure seemed like more)
Medium leather: 160
Heavy leather: 200

Light hide: 0
Medium hide: 25
Heavy hide: 20

Course thread: 150
Fine thread: 65
Silken thread: 10

Grey dye: 20
Green dye: 10

Salt: 85

Now that you have all your consumables, it’s time to start crafting ….and crafting….and CRAFTING.

1-30: Light armor kits
30-40: Light leather quiver
40-50: Light armor kit
50-55: Hand stitched leather boots
55-90: Embossed leather gloves
90-100: Fine leather belt
100-115: Medium armor kit
115-125: Dark leather boots
125-135: Dark leather belt
135-150: Hillman’s shoulders
150-180 Heavy armor kit
180-190: Green leather bracers
190-200: Guardian gloves

All the items I chose to grind on were either with resale in mind (to offset the cost of mats) or pure skill ups. I’ll go over each item and detail my reason for choosing it.

Light armor kits: No brainer. They take 1 light leather and are yellow all the way to 50. They sell ok on the AH too.

Light leather quiver: These take 2 light leather and 1 course thread. Every hunter wants (or should want) one so resale is great. They are orange to 40 so take the guaranteed skill up.

Light armor kits: We go back to light armor kits because it’s just smart due to the minimal resources. It’s yellow but if you’re on a budget it’s the way to go.

Handstitched leather boots: Filler item just to get to 55. Vendor trash.

Embossed leather gloves: Good for grinding because of the low resources used. More vendor trash

Fine leather belt: Another grey grinder to get to 100. **DONÂ’T VENDOR THESE** (YouÂ’ll see why in a bit)

Medium armor kits: Just like light armor kits, they are reasonable on the resources and will sell on the AH.

Dark leather boots: Filler item. Vendor trash

Dark leather belt: THIS is the reason we kept those fine leather belts. Almost no resources (minus the hide) and these things sell well on the AH. I put 4 up at 50s and they all sold first time. I’m betting you can get more.

HillmanÂ’s shoulders: The perfect grinding item. Reasonable resources and they sell very well. These shoulders are the first decent green for an up and coming rogue/feral druid. DE is also an option but you’ll do better to AH them.

Heavy armor: Same as light and medium armor kits. AH them or give them out to guilders.

Green leather bracers: Nothing exciting about these. Crappy stats but the best option for leveling at this point. I recommend DE for the vision dust/GME

Guardian gloves: Vendor trash.

Well, there you have it. Leatherworking 1-200 with full itemization. This is not the be all end all of LW grinding but more of a guide for those looking for a quick, semi-painless way to power level. These are many other patterns that sell well while you’re climbing the LW ladder. Give those a try if you’re skilling up while you level your character.

ENJOY!!!reez-zwanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10210292011452112912noreply@blogger.com1
